Who Needs a Doula?
No one and everyone.
Seriously, I think every woman is capable of connecting to her needs, giving birth, and taking care of her baby. Everyone.
But unfortunately, we live in a world where it's easier to disconnect from our bodies and necessary to focus on others' needs (if we want to "fit in"); where it's quite complicated to figure out your birthplan and to actually trust your decision (information everywhere!!). And taking care of a baby? Well, it means taking care of everyone, including the unsatisfied neighbour who can't sleep because of the noises.........
So, in today's world, I believe that everyone can do it alone, but what's the price? Maybe your mental health, your free time, your recovery, your relationship.... you name it.
I think every woman would need another woman on her side to go through these challenges with. Not because we can't do it alone, but because we choose to share it with someone to be seen and to stay in power. If you have a good friend, share your fears and joys with her. If your mom is awesome, let it be her. Is your partner your bestie? Hurray!! ...but if you are still looking for the right partner in crime (in birth?), you may consider hiring a doula.
Feeling relaxed is key to childbirth (and also to the following years...). So here is the question:

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO STAY THIS RELAXED?
If you have your tools and a partner who supports you in the way you need it... you probably don't need a doula.
Otherwise, we can find the answers together!
How Can I Be There For You As a Doula?

Before Birth
Maybe you are uncertain about your needs. Maybe you have no idea what to expect. You may already have a plan. As a doula, I go with your flow. I listen. I offer refreshing perspectives. I help you remember that this is your journey. We create time for you to reflect and make meaning of life. I give you evidence-based information, teach you positions, and help you find your way to relax. Every feeling, concern, and question is welcome!

During Birth
Giving birth is big.
I see it as one of the biggest challenges a woman can experience. An opportunity to find your power, to find your voice, to find yourself. Some say it's worth about 300 hours of therapy. You may want to have someone by your side who has already done it. Someone who looks you in the eye and says: I see you, and you are doing great. Someone who holds you during the most vulnerable times. We are not looking for perfect, we are looking for authentic.

After Birth
Your needs matter. Your feelings matter. Your recovery matters.
You don't have to do it alone. This is the only opportunity for you to enjoy the first days with your baby. Finding your place in the world, adjusting to the new role, and getting on your feet again takes time. You have the power to make the postpartum period the most enjoyable for you. I'm offering you the space and time you need.
The main message: I see you, and I'm with you.
No matter where you are in the process of becoming a mother, I'm here.
